The Wesco: Stem & Flush Mount Ceiling Light

Inspired by vintage factory lights, the Wesco features a distinct straight-stepped neckline that gives it a commanding presence in any space. Unlike shallower shades, the Wesco’s deep-bowl profile allows the lamp holder to sit recessed within the neck. This creates a “mellowed” lighting effect that protects the eyes from bulb glare while delivering a focused, high-illumination beam exactly where you need it.

• The 40cm Wesco (The Industrial Icon): Our best-selling deep-bowl size. With its large form and bold proportions, the 40cm version is a true statement piece. We recommend this size for taller ceiling heights, such as garages, stables, warehouses, and showrooms.

The Wesco is engineered to thrive both indoors and out, ensuring your backyard or workspace is safely and stylishly lit.

• Standard IP44 Rating: As standard, the Wesco is rated for water and rain exposure, making it safe for most outdoor and bathroom applications.

• The IP55 Weatherproof Upgrade: For maximum protection, you can opt for the IP55 Upgrade (including our Beacon (formerly Atomic) Cast & Glass unit). This adds a specialized seal and protective glass, allowing the Wesco to withstand the harshest coastal winds and dust.

Materials & craft

Every shade is hand-spun in our Carrum Downs workshop — shaped on a lathe, not pressed in a die. We work in aluminium for three reasons:

• It’s light. A spun-aluminium shade weighs a fraction of a steel equivalent, easier to ship and mount, with less load on brackets, arms, and ceiling roses.
• It doesn’t corrode. Steel rusts. Aluminium doesn’t — even in coastal salt or humid climates. Powdercoat seals it; the underlying metal stays sound for the long haul.
• It takes more skill to spin. Aluminium is softer and less forgiving than steel, so a clean shade silhouette is a craft outcome, not a stamping outcome. Every shade passes through a spinner’s hands before it reaches yours.
