Popular Colours

Our success has been based on offering powdercoat colours and finishes that no other Australian (or international) website can offer. Whether you need something that makes the kitchen “pop” or compliments the Colorbond® fencing, our Colour Range has your needs covered.

Our most popular colours are the simple and dramatic Black Ace and Flat White, with a coating that is extremely durable in Australia’s harsh weather conditions as they are made locally by Dulux Powders and applied by local professionals.

A wide range of colours are available, and you can order colour swatches directly from Dulux® Powders (Electro/Duralloy/Alphatech) or visit your local fencing/roofing/hardware store to view the complete Colorbond® Range.

Outdoor Rated Lighting?

Our Outdoor Lighting range provides a list of “Outdoor Rated Lights” however the Colours that we produce are far and wide at a minimum are “Outdoor Rated” – The key difference is how long the colours remain and the associated guarantees from Dulux. We’d expect a minimum of 10 years guarantee for Colorbond colours, however up-to 25 years for Electro/Charisma – The more “colourful powders” in the Duratec Range are supposed to have a 15 year guarantee.

Coastal Rated

Some colours like our “Coastal Rated” colours have a much higher guarantee, so it bright colours are important to you – do contact us for more information as the industry is going through a turbulent time with formulations of new powdercoats, those that we already do, and the ones presently to our website differ a decent amount.

Shop By Metallics

We manufacture almost exclusively with Lightweight, non-rusting Aluminium, with a high quality powder coated finish (excl. Galvanised). The finishes shown below are commonly referred to as metallic colours, they look metallic – they don’t cost like metals. We have never described our powder-coats as “Brass, or Copper, or Hot Dip Galvanised” to refer to the actual metals.

At the risk of mis-interpreting a “Spork” for a “Splade” as Mel brings up each family dinner – These metallics are a little better than the real thing as they require zero maintenance apart from the bi-annual microfibre clean. Touch-Up paint can be sourced locally to you, so you’ll get a premium finish without the premium price-tag.

Galvanised [WS975 or GAL] – Our most popular metallic is WS975-Galvanised – Created & painted from a grey-etch with metallic topcoat. Applied in house by Barn Light Employees, hand-dabbed to create the unique grunge finish that is Galvanised and no two shades are identical. Looks like hot-dip galvanised however will age with the building it has been affixed to. This is an all over finish as your globe will not require a white internal to create a big illumination of light.

Tiberius Flat [ETF] –  is a premium, zero gloss/flat powder-coated finish designed to replicate precious metals without the expense associated with. We’ve never called Tiberius “Brass” nor “Gold” as the colour is better characterised as a “Bronze/Green Patina” however that’s exactly what customers call it. This is an all over finish with the reflective particles of the powder doing all the work to make your light bounce.

Burnished Copper [EBC] – Resembles a “Native Copper“, unlike real Copper (Reddish-Brown) this burnished finish won’t Patina/Verdigris (turn green) and contains a purple or red undertone. Very well represented as its own statement finish. In darker areas, this finish will almost look quite dull however dances in the sunlight when lit which is why this is also an all over finish.

Tiberius [ETF]

A unique green-tinged metallic that mimics bright Brass
Neither Brass or expensive – Tiberius.

Burnished Copper [EBC]

A Deep “Burgundy” Red with notes of Purple that Glitter in the Sunlight. Best viewed at Dusk.

New Copper [ENC]

A Bright Yellow/Orange Copper that is brilliant in the sunshine and otherwise appears muted when dark.

We, (the staff behind Barn Light) like tinkering & creating things, finding new toys, machinery, and under that banner we call it manufacturing – We’re always looking for the “next big thing” – Much like New Toys/Machinery, and the prospect of building (but not using) a “Man Cave”, we bring that creative energy into creating new fixtures, finishes, and processes.

Venerable Silver [EVS] – A Tarnished silver that dances in the sunlight, identical to Burnished Copper (EBC) in it’s characteristics – the only change is the formula is just “silver” The finish has been designed to resemble your Grandmothers wedding ring, or that antique pewter serving platter you’ve seen affixed to walls for decoration. Its a dark finish, it is nothing like stainless steel! This is an all over finish with the reflective particles of the powder doing all the work to make your light bounce.

Medium Bronze [EMB] –  it looks like bronze, but doesn’t tarnish – just like Venerable Silver & Burnished Copper its got the exact same durability and benefits. We love Medium Bronze where installed in kitchens or above solid red brick walls. This is an all over finish as your globe will not require a white internal to create a big illumination of light.

Dark Bronze [EDB] – Resembles a dark earthy brown. Its almost black however the amount of metallic makes it resemble medium bronze under bright lights. The colour is best used as a statement piece where you’d like to emulate tarnished bronze door handles, or subtle metallic. Similar to Medium Bronze, this finish will look dark however dances in the sunlight when lit which is why this is also an all over finish.

Electro Venerable Silver [EVS] – reminds you of your grandmothers tarnished wedding ring, a dark, metallic gray colour. It is similar to lead in color, but has a softer, more velvety appearance that compliments flat provincial blacks. Customers commonly use this colour combined with a black exterior to give some character.

Electro Dark Bronze [EDB] – is a rich, deep brown with hints of black. It is perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to any space. This colour is often used in interior design and can be found in many high-end homes.

Our success has been based on offering powdercoat colours and finishes that no other Australian (or international) website can offer. Whether you need something that makes the kitchen “pop” or compliments the Colorbond® fencing, our Colour Range has your needs covered. All the colours have been inspired by the colours of Australia. So, whether you prefer colours that are subtle or bold, light or dark, cool or warm, just select one you like from the palette to find out more about the inspiration behind it. We offer the full range of Colorbond Colours – We don’t show every available option below as there are too many, just the ones that we know are popular! Visit Colorbond for the full range:

Things you need (*want) to know about Colorbond® Colours.

Powdercoats are not the same as paint(s). You can’t go to Bunnings and pickup a swatch and say “That’s what I want”, then order it from us – because we’ll tell you that paint vs. powdercoat is different. The difference in sheen, durability, and representation. If you’ve got a Colorbond steel® roof sheet, fencing, or aluminium window trim – It’ll be the same so long as you select the correct finish; here’s a simple breakdown on the most popular finish from Colorbond®;

How gloss levels are found.

Most Colorbond® colours have two sheen levels, generally they have a Satin & Matt or Gloss & Satin combination. ie. Monument Satin & Monument Matt. It important to understand what while we have access to the “full Colorbond® range”, that doesn’t mean *every* sheen combination possible.

Our Finish.

When we work with the Colorbond range our shades are all powdercoated with Pearl White Gloss internally to give the best base for your globe to do its work. With many Colorbond colours being a flat & heavy we want to make sure your shades really light up a space. So other than our metallics range these colours are used for all the external fittings from the shade, mounting down to the screws your sparkie will use for installation.

Colorbond Monument Satin [CMS] – It’s supposedly satin however presents as a Full Gloss – If you’ve got a home that’s been built in the last decade or so, it’ll be Monument Satin, especially if you got the fence done in the same finish. It’s a dark grey, almost black and doesn’t have a hint of metallic in it.

Colorbond Monument Matt [CMM] – The simplest giveaway is that is a very minute metallic that will likely be accompanied on your window trims, door trims (or screen doors!) and doesn’t look *as dark* as its Satin brother. If you like shiny things, you’ll want this finish over Monument Satin, we personally prefer it (not because its shiny) as it has a flatter/more mellowed colour and not as stark in different lighting situations.
