    How to Calculate Projections How to Mount Your Barn Light View Alternative Arms

    What is Projection? This is the distance from your wall to the centre of the light bulb. To ensure a perfect fit, your arm's projection should be at least 5cm–10cm larger than half the width (radius) of your chosen shade. The Standard Wall Backing Plate is 3cm in projection. eg. A Standard Gooseneck (37cm) will project 40cm from the wall overall (Arm + Mounting) without your selected Shade Diameter.

    What is the included Hardware? Our Standard Wall Backing Plate comes with all mounting hardware (screws, mounting bracket, gasket, grub screws) required. You need only your sparkie to read the Installation Guides to get installed (INS-0000 / INS-0001).

    What colour is the Hardware? Hardware is coated same selected finish as your shade. If you intend to select duotones or a custom finish - the mounting hardware will be referred to as the "External Colour"

    [DLQ] - Dulux Lexicon Quarter

    Lexicon® Quarter has a cool, fresh, modern appearance, particularly when applied to walls and trims. This finish will provide a seamless up-to-date style to your home, extending that look, feel, and style using a Barn Light ;). Powdercoat is a different product to paint, not all powdercoats look like paints, and the variance in satins, gloss levels, and matte level vary dramatically.

    WS975-Galvanised Appendum

    WS975-Galvanised is a premium, hand-painted finish manufactured from quality fine metallic paints and Acrylic Etch Primers designed to age with the building and surrounds.
    You'll be probably asking yourself, "Is it Steel?". The answer is NO, it is not. Its hand-dabbed automotive quality paint formula, sprayed by our employees.

    1. This paint/finish is expensive - 8Ltrs of this formula costs $800.
    2. We haven't changed paint formulation since 2014, (Changed in March 2026) and we've got this old finish installed at Seaworld (yes, that one) for the past 15 years.
    3. We don't keep stock - All parts needs to be batched. The pattern changes subtly based on the operator.
    4. Lead-times vary a touch more than usual due to the labour required to achieve this finish.

    By checking this box, you acknowledge that Warranties were limited to two-years from the date of purchase for this finish, as aging is a desired effect.
    Orders placed after March 2026 will receive a 3-Year Warranty in line with our existing Warranties.

    These beautiful G95 LED Globes won't fit within the IP55 Upgrade, if you happen to buy these by accident - we'll swap out for the suitable ones (ST64) upon despatch.

    Cages are not required to be installed to obtain IP55 Rating, Glass is a hard requirement. We recommend caged installation in areas prone to glass breakage (to minimise shards upon being impacted).

    Please note that IP55 Ratings are only valid where the glass is installed and installation completed per our installation instructions.

The Original Gooseneck Barn Light: Australia’s most-ordered, full stop

Most “industrial” lights you see online are pressed steel from somewhere you can’t pronounce, designed to look the part for two summers and rust by the third. The Original Gooseneck is the one that actually started it — built to RLM standards from the 1920s, hand-spun in our Carrum Downs workshop, powdercoated in any of 50+ Colorbond and custom finishes, and engineered to outlast the wall it’s mounted on.

The Standard Dome — what RLM actually means

The wide, sloping shade casts a broad, downward pool of task light — the same silhouette Benjamin Electric, Goodrich, and Appleton engineered a century ago to keep American factories running after dark. In Australia, H. Rowe & Co. (ROWCO) and Melbourne’s Oliver J. Nilsen picked up the same baton through the mid-1900s. If you’ve ever seen those iconic green-porcelain reflectors hanging in an old Aussie warehouse, you’ve already met the family.

Industrial-Vintage, Hamptons, or Modern Farmhouse — same shade, different colour

Choose Matte Black or Galvanised for an industrial workshop feel. Pick Flat White, Hamptons White, or Lexicon Quarter for a coastal Hamptons look. Drop in Evergreen for the heritage-green factory aesthetic. The Standard Dome silhouette adapts — your finish does the talking.

Mounting — choose your projection

Four mounting arms, four projections: PG12 (30 cm to centre, the compact mount), SG16 (37 cm — most popular), G15 (47 cm), or G22 (57 cm) for deep eaves and broad façades. Shades available in 30 cm, 40 cm, 50 cm, and 60 cm.

Materials & craft

Every Original is hand-spun in our Carrum Downs workshop — shaped on a lathe, not pressed in a die. We work in aluminium for three reasons:
  • It’s light. A spun-aluminium shade weighs a fraction of a steel equivalent, which means less load on brackets and arms — exactly what you want when a 60 cm dome is projecting half a metre off a wall.
  • It doesn’t corrode. Steel rusts. Aluminium doesn’t — even in coastal salt or humid climates. Powdercoat seals it; the underlying metal is naturally resilient. That’s why our 1930s Goodrich-engineered lights still look the part decades later.
  • It takes more skill to spin. Aluminium is softer and less forgiving than steel, so a clean Standard Dome silhouette is a craft outcome, not a stamping outcome.

IP44 standard — IP55 if you’re near the surf

Standard IP44 handles general outdoor use, alfresco, and bathrooms without breaking a sweat. If you’re mounting on an exposed coastal façade or under open eaves with no shelter, upgrade to the IP55 Beacon Caged (formerly Atomic) wire-cage with glass enclosure — the “hose-down” rated version that takes a salt-spray hit and keeps going.
  • Australian Made — hand-spun in Carrum Downs, not assembled, not “designed in Australia.” Made.
  • 50+ Powdercoat Finishes — Colorbond, Dulux, and custom colour-matching available.
  • RLM Heritage — the same Standard Dome that lit Aussie factories from the 1930s onward.

Our Warranties

As an Industrial Lighting Manufacturer, we’re certain our products will exceed warranties published. We have some understandable exclusions however expect the best from our lighting products and you should too.

Three (3) years from the date of purchase; where the,

  • Lighting utilised in a residential setting (House / Home / Unit).
  • Lighting installed in the correct Location Rating as certified.
  • Lighting powder-coated in Dulux Electro Powder Coat or “Coastal Colours” as defined

Two (2) years from the date of purchase; where,

  • Where Lighting is used in a commercial settings (Restaurant / Public Space / High-Traffic).
  • Any component of the Good is powder-coated in anything but Dulux Electro powder coat or WS975-GalvanisedDesigned to age.
  • Where any item of the product is situated within 200m from a coastal environment (excluding Coastal Rated Powdercoats).

We offer a 5-Year Warranty for customers opting into our “Photo Review” program. For information on how to apply for this program, please contact us.

Swapping Products & Components

Our ability as a manufacturer is to supply you with options, far exceeding your local lighting store. Have you purchased a wall light, and would have loved it to be a pendant instead, or decided it was too big on first impressions and needed to downsize? We can offer you this service, and a touch more. We offer no charge to down-size the shade, however charge the cost of the difference (ie $20) plus freight incurred by us as a courtesy. Hardware, components and similar products are charged as a proverbial (and nominal) cost. Need to know more? Contact us!
