• IP55 Caged Upgrade: Need the light source a touch lower or require heavy-duty weather resistance? Upgrade to the Astro Caged Factory Wall Light. Fortified with an IP55 outdoor rating, the addition of the cage provides enhanced depth, aesthetic appeal, and ultimate protection.

What Makes the Astro Unique?

The Astro Warehouse Shade is defined by its tapered neck base, complemented by a unique rounded neck band. This detailed curvature perfectly complements Hampton, Farmhouse, or Queenslander styled homes. The slimming neckline smoothly tapers out into a shallow bowl (or “straight flared” shade), which is finished with a rolled lip. This rolled lip isn’t just for show—it provides the structural integrity necessary for our impact-resistant designs and long-lasting warranties.

The Low-Wattage Decorative Appeal: Why choose the Astro over other wall lighting options? It is incredibly popular as a decorative fixture because the light bulb remains visible below the shade’s lip. This allows you to showcase vintage-style filament LED bulbs to their full effect. Materials & craft

Every shade is hand-spun in our Carrum Downs workshop — shaped on a lathe, not pressed in a die. We work in aluminium for three reasons:

• It’s light. A spun-aluminium shade weighs a fraction of a steel equivalent, easier to ship and mount, with less load on brackets, arms, and ceiling roses.
• It doesn’t corrode. Steel rusts. Aluminium doesn’t — even in coastal salt or humid climates. Powdercoat seals it; the underlying metal stays sound for the long haul.
• It takes more skill to spin. Aluminium is softer and less forgiving than steel, so a clean shade silhouette is a craft outcome, not a stamping outcome.
